Let us introduce to you the two most popular cuisines in Taiwan that you cannot miss trying them out!

Beef noodle

Beef noodle is probably the most popular Taiwanese dish. If you don’t know any famous stalls, you can randomly try any beef noodle vendor and you won’t be disappointed by the amazing flavour. This dish is made with thick noodles, different parts of the beef such as shank and tendon, spring onion, and two types of soup choices. The “Qing Dun” 清燉 comes with a clear broth with no soy sauce added, typically with lighter taste; while the “Hong Shao” 红燒 is with a dark, more flavourful, mildly spicy soy-infused stock. The stock of beef noodle is said to be cooked over 20 hours, using beef bones and a secret blend of herbs that belongs to the family business. People usually have beef noodles with pickles like kim chi, cucumber, cabbage as side dishes to enhance the noodle flavour. A bowl of noodles usually ranges from NTD 200 for a small one to NTD 300 for a big one. This is certainly not a cheap price for a bowl of noodles, but once you’ve tasted the broth and the tender beef, your money is all worth it.
